Why Wood Playgrounds?
Our play areas are built out of Cedar, Pine, Fir and some hard wood species depending on the project.
Why choose us?
-
Wood stands out as the most versatile material for playground construction because of its unparalleled design flexibility. Its natural strength allows for a variety of creative and custom designs that can be shaped to fit almost any vision. Whether you’re imagining a towering treehouse, winding bridges, or whimsical climbing structures, wood can be crafted into unique, functional, and beautiful play elements.
Additionally, wood creates a warm and inviting atmosphere that encourages children to explore and play. Its versatility ensures that your playground can be both visually stunning and tailored to specific needs, from safety features to accessibility.
When it comes to combining durability, aesthetics, and adaptability, wood truly has no equal.
-
Wood is an excellent sustainable choice for playground construction. As a renewable resource, responsibly sourced wood supports environmental conservation when harvested from well-managed forests. Unlike synthetic materials, wood has a significantly lower carbon footprint during production and can naturally decompose at the end of its lifecycle, reducing waste.
Additionally, wooden playgrounds can be repaired and maintained with minimal environmental impact, extending their lifespan and reducing the need for replacement materials. Choosing wood for playground construction is not only a commitment to sustainability but also to creating play spaces that connect children with nature in a meaningful way.
-
Wood has natural versatility allowing for straightforward cutting, shaping, and assembly, making custom designs and on-site adjustments hassle-free.
Installing wooden playgrounds is typically quicker and more efficient compared to materials that require specialized equipment or complex assembly processing. Plus, repairs or upgrades can be done with basic tools, reducing downtime costs.
Whether its a small backyard playset or a large commercial playground, wood ensures a smooth installation process and a finished product that’s both functional and beautiful.
-
Wooden playgrounds provide excellent cost savings due to their material cost, durability, ease of maintenance, and long-term value. High-quality wood materials are built to withstand heavy use and the elements, reducing the frequency and cost of repairs compared to other materials.
Wood is also highly customizable, allowing for creative designs without the need for expensive manufacturing processes. Additionally, repairing or replacing individual wooden components is typically more affordable and straightforward than fixing metal or plastic structures.
When properly maintained, wood playgrounds offer a long lifespan and a timeless aesthetic, making them a smart investment for years of safe and engaging play.

Many worry about the fire hazard that wood is commonly believed to have. Some woods such as Cedar, however, which is used in all of our playgrounds, have natural fire retardant resisting ignition in higher heats. Furthermore, all of our commercial play structures over 150 SF (or when requested) are treated with non-toxic fire resistance that satisfy all ASTM fire standards.
-
All of our wooden materials undergo a multistep process to ensure they are not only safe for use in a play area, but also will stand the test of time.
This process begins with material selection. Only the best pieces are kept and used in our structures.
Each piece is then sanded to ensure a smooth, non-splintering surface. Our sanding is also a multistep process starting with a lower grit, and working up to an appropriately smooth finish.
After being cut, drilled, and milled to size, the wood is then painted or stained to the specifications of the project. All paints and stains used are non-toxic.
The final step is the application of a thick Spar clear coat. This clear coat seals the wood, allowing for easier cleaning, incredible longevity, and provides a professional finished look to the product.

The type of wood we use varies depending on the project, geographical installation location, and design. Some of the most common woods used in our designs are Cedar, Fir, and Pine. Hardwoods such as Oak, Walnut, and Maple may also be used depending on the build!
